So online 4 player co-op is in. We know that now. But with that revelation comes even bigger news. No longer will players simply play through the game as carbon copies of Master Chief. Instead, two all new heroes have been created and woven into the story, accompanying the Arbiter and the Chief on their latest epic.

But who are these two new Elite characters?

Well, here’s some handy background info on players three and four, who from now on shall forever be known as:

PLAYER 3 (Sangheili)

Name: N’tho ‘Sraom
Affiliation: Fleet of Retribution/Special Warfare Group/Special Operations
History: N’tho ‘Sraom is the youngest member of his Special Operations unit and is one of a growing number of human sympathizers amongst the Sangheili youth. He is a fairly typical young male adult Sangheili—he began compulsory military service at the end of adolescence, and remains unmarried with no close, non-familial relationships outside of his martial order. N’tho Sraom refused to stand idly by while the Prophets replaced Sangheili units with Jiralhanae packs, and now bears deep resentment toward those Sangheili politicians who landed his kind in their current predicament.

Although N’tho ‘Sraom’s romanticized nationalism is emblematic of all Sangheili, he has developed a healthy respect for humanity—not for their physical abilities or martial prowess, but for their audacity and resolve.

PLAYER 4 (Sangheili)

Name: Usze ‘Taham
Affiliation: Fleet of Retribution/Special Warfare Group/Fleet Security
History: Although Usze ‘Taham was born into a respected merchant family he was fathered by Toha ‘Sumai—one of the preeminent swordfighters of this age. Usze graduated with honors from the top War College in the Iruiru region of Yermo, Sanghelios (a distinction he shares with Rtas ‘Vadum). Shortly after receiving his first post within the Covenant Navy he was offered a place on the Prophets’ Honor Guard but he declined citing “lack of practical experience”. In truth, he had no desire to be part of a largely ceremonial unit, and at the end of his third combat tour, Usze ‘Taham again refused the post—even though his superiors warned him such behavior could be misinterpreted as apostasy.

Since that time Usze has evaded countless punitive actions, at least two assassination attempts, and served with distinction for two additional tours before the Schism. Following the dissolution of the Covenant, he was approached by the Ascetics to become one of their liaisons within the Navy.

———————————————————–

Apparently each of the characters will have the same abilities – with only starting weapons differing (Elites will start with Carbines versus Battle Rifles for example, depending on the mission being played). But this is a BIG deal. What exactly does this mean for the single players out there, and how will the game experience differ? Like Gears of War before it, it would now seem that online co-op is going to be the only way to get the most out of the story campaign.

I wonder how exactly the additional characters will be handled when only one person is sat, controller in hand?

Comment by ION 360

that is master chief they wouldnt add another spartan now in the final chapter

Comment by ryguy

it just a guess and no one know whats in the final chapter

Comment by ION 360

I like the look of the other two elites.

Comment by BigRedz

They found a way to put the 3 new elite armors in single player. my guess is they somehow have incorporated the new spartan armors into single player as well. They said MC wont be able to change his armor in single player, but he could just as easily run into another spartan, or 3.

Um hello its the final chapter there more of a chance that other Spartans will be in it.

Comment by Master Tricks

I wish there was at least one other spartan in the squad seems alittle unfair 3 eliets and only one human can any one else see the next batreyal hope the eliets dont betray Master chief or else he has a 1 on 3 disadvantage but I think things like this will work out some how

Comment by Sid

I don’t think they will add new spartans would ruin the whole last spartan thing that the other 2 games built up (also the books are based off the game so i don’t see them coming) but who knows Bungie may just put one in

Comment by A Random Reader

ok that spartan looks like a friggin grl!!
its so weird no1 brought this up

Comment by SNIPERzX

The Dyson Sphere couid be involved in Halo 3 and we will finaly see Dr. Halsey and Officer Mendez.

Comment by DEL360X

“ok that spartan looks like a friggin grl!!”

yup, that was my first impression too… unless MC gets a sex change, it’s prolly another SPARTAN.

@Sid: I think the Arbiter betrays MC, atleast it looks like it on the E32007 trailer ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlkLATZe0xA , on 1 min. 40 secs), u see the MC holding a magnum at the Arbiters neck. also, on 1:44 – 1:45, you can see the Arbiter on the Scarab, while MC is shooting at it. Weird.

Comment by V Meister

Arby destroys it inside

Comment by DEL360X

how the hell does that look like a girl if they wear the same armor

she has a feminine look to her, she just does.

Comment by D-thunda

btw, i’m nicknaming the 2 new elite characters ‘starsky and hutch’

Comment by D-thunda

DEL360X: “Arby destroys it inside”
why does MC put a gun to his throat then, on 1:40?

Comment by V Meister

Starsky and Hutch would work for nick names.

Comment by Sid

pfft put more elites in they cooler then spartan except the spartan 3 on the ghost onyx book

Comment by dartzz

we r the arm of the prophets arbiter and u r the blade be silent and swift and we shall dwell this harisy without incident.

Comment by arbiter

i am the arbiter and i am the leader of the elites and not even masterchief can stop me no one can.

Comment by arbiter

what the fudge is wrong with you freaks?
there is no new spartan and the arbiter is an honourable warrior who has just been cast out of the covenant. like hell he’d pass up the chief as an ally. dumb shytes! SHA!

Comment by wtf?!

Okay, theyr wasw a possibility for another spartn but a very slim one becouse in the games they never really said the cheif was the last and he isent if you read the books you’ll realise in the ghosts of onyx Kelly and the other guy survive with some of the spartan 3’s and dr.halsey and mendez and if you notice the location he’s at on Tsavo highway lvl your at the orbitaldock that the other spartans blew up inb the ghosts of onyx and one of the spartans died theyr… it wouldent suprise me if they have a spartan body hidden on the map or somthing=S but most liockely not. good hunting though and on the first lvl theyrs a little monkey family and onbe of the monkeys has a teddy bear im going to post a video soon on Youtube of it

Comment by PuDDLz

wow.
theres no other spartans in the game because even if some had survived in ghosts of onyx, it would confuse the heck out of those ppl who don’t watch the movie clips and who don’t read the books. like my next door neighbor. it took him a couple hours to figure out a level cause he skipped the cinematics and just started shooting. i think it might have been the halo 3 one where the flood are temporarily on ur side. he just shot them up…

Comment by TheComish

oh and its not the final chapter, unlike what some ppl said, theres gonna be another game. HALO WARS BABY!!!!!!
unfortunately it would seem halo wars is set before halo 3, cause some of the commercials have ~spartans~ and marines fighting elites

Comment by TheComish

Halo wars will find you fighting before the events of Halo 1, during the UNSC’s first confrontation with the Covenant.
