While we’re still trying to figure out exactly what the secret special object tucked away on Standoff could be (surely not Halo’s pistol?), another of the new Heroic Map Pack‘s little secrets has come to light.

This time on Foundry, a map currently being praised for it’s ‘playground’ like nature, thanks to it’s sheer number of editable objects. Practically everything on the map can be removed, leaving nothing but a huge empty warehouse to get creative in – and with the inclusion of new Forge objects like shield doors and man cannons, the possibilites are near endless.
Speaking of playgrounds, hands up everyone who remembers the hidden soccer ball in Halo 2. Knocking that around for a bit was a giggle, wasn’t it? Well it looks like we’ll be doing it again.
Fresh from the press previews Bungie held last week, comes the news that a similar soccer ball is in fact one of the new Forge objects that’ll be available on Foundry.

Yep, perfect for those days when you’ve had enough of all that shooting and are looking for another way to let off some steam, you’ll be able to organise a brief kick around with your mates instead. Awesome stuff.
And while sadly, there’ll be no way for the game to keep a conventional score as such, we can already imagine the hundreds of new soccer orientated gametypes and map variants headed our way thanks to the new toy.
Mongoose Soccer or Grav Hammer Polo anyone?
We can only hope we’ve more of these little treats to look forward to in the future… which of course brings us back to that mysterious Standoff item…
Any ideas?
*UPDATE*
Ske7ch over at B.net, has put up a story all about fooling around on Foundry, focusing of course, on Spartan Soccer. Pics and a good read can be found here.
