New Cold Storage Screens

It’s Friday (well, Saturday morning here in the UK) which can only mean one thing… Bungie Weekly Update time. As expected, after the debut of Halo 3’s latest multiplayer map last week, Cold Storage – a remake of the ever popular Chill Out from Halo: Combat Evolved – Bungie have this week opened the lid, even if just ever so slightly, and kindly dropped a couple of new screens for us to gawp at.

As you can see from the shots, confirming our suspicions, it’s looking pretty faithful to the original map, albeit with a hint of flood infection here and there just for good measure and to make it all Halo three-ey. That stuff’s everywhere nowadays.

Additional information though, like where all this is taking place in the Halo universe, and what that massive piece of scanning equipment is in the second screen, remains a mystery for now, as Bungie are keeping schtum on the little details. No doubt they’ve got something big planned for Bungie day this year…

Grab yourselves jumbo versions of the shots here and speculate away.

Be sure to check out the rest of the update too, for information/excuses/reasons* for Halo 3’s Battle Rifle spread, Comic-Con news, and upcoming Master Chief bobble-heads.

*delete as appropriate.

Great – now I’ve got the position of the Needler memorized >.< Nice screens, though.

Apparently this map was supposed to ship with the game. If you look on page 20 of the manual, you can see a picture of it on the map selecting lobby.
Perhaps it will be a free download on Bungie day?

I was thinking it might be our Bungie Day gift this year, Thunda. I’m hoping to get some comparison shots up on the site later on.

Nice find on the manual reference too, sure looks like it to me.
